Parkside Walk breaks new ground in sustainable urban living

  • LandCorp’s Parkside Walk development in Jolimont awarded EnviroDevelopment accreditation   
  • Water and energy savings to reduce living costs for residents
  • First WA project certified under the Multi-Unit Residential standard

The sustainability features at LandCorp’s Parkside Walk in Jolimont have been recognised by the UDIA, with the project being the first in WA to be certified under their EnviroDevelopment Multi-Unit Residential standard. 

Parkside Walk achieved Five Leaves certification across the elements of water, energy, community, ecosystems and waste.

LandCorp chief executive Frank Marra said EnviroDevelopment is a scientifically-based assessment scheme acknowledging projects that provide environmentally sustainable developments and lifestyles.

“Parkside Walk a partnership between LandCorp and the Town of Cambridge will be a vibrant, connected urban community which leads the way in sustainable living,” Mr Marra said.

“Residents will enjoy significant cost savings as a result of the diverse range of water, energy and environmental strategies being adopted.”

“The strategies include waterwise and energy efficient appliances, native gardens, climate responsive design and solar-oriented dwellings.”

Mr Marra said through the urban design of the estate, along with installation of water efficient fixtures and appliances, future residents could reduce their water consumption by 40% per dwelling. 

“In addition to these potential savings, the installation of a minimum 1.5kW solar power system – will result in a 34% saving when compared to a standard Perth home, saving $400 on utility bills each year.”

“All of the apartments developed must also meet the EnviroDevelopment criteria for Energy, including climate responsive design, day lighting, sub-metering and reduced greenhouse gas emissions.”   

While already offering a number of sustainability initiatives to its residents, Town of Cambridge Mayor Keri Shannon said this certification further demonstrates the Town’s commitment to long term sustainable living. 

“Lush, green spaces and exceptional public amenities are a hallmark of the local area,” Mayor Shannon said. 

“This accreditation proves that high quality, sustainable development will continue to be available for current and future generations. 

“In partnership with LandCorp, we’re proud to be the first local government to achieve this EnviroDevelopment certification.   

“I hope more households choose to follow sustainable living principles when they see the potential benefits – both to the environment and to their wallet.”

When complete, Parkside Walk will cater for up to 350 dwellings including townhouses, apartments and single residences.

Located near Wembley, Floreat and Subiaco, the development is close to established education, medical and recreation facilities and shopping precincts.

“Parkside Walk will be a residential address in demand and lots are set to sell fast,” Mr Marra said.

Parkside Walk is a boutique development on Salvado Road, is surrounded by parklands and established suburbs, residents will have access to a range of housing options in a prime location in Perth’s western suburbs.

It joins three other LandCorp developments which are currently EnviroDevelopment certified under different categories.  These include Alkimos BeachRockingham Industry Zone and the recently accredited Allara in Eglinton.
