The historic town of Menzies offers a glimpse into the gold rush that swept through the Western Australian Goldfields at the turn of the previous century. The townsite is located 728km east-north-east of Perth and 132km north of Kalgoorlie.

Menzies has some wonderful historic architecture, including a well-preserved old State battery. Curiously, the Menzies Town Hall's clock tower has been clock-less for 100 years after a ship carrying the precious cargo sank enroute to Australia.

Menzies is now the jumping off point for the famous 'Inside Australia' sculptures by Anthony Gormley at Lake Ballard.
