Discover ancient stories of the Whadjuk Noongar people

Explore the Aboriginal history of Goomup (Elizabeth Quay) and the Booneenboro (Perth Waters) through a guided cultural walking tour.

Running monthly from October 2026 to May 2027, Go Cultural Aboriginal Tours & Experiences are led by Traditional Owner Walter McGuire OAM and his team at Elizabeth Quay. Supported by DevelopmentWA, the tours are subsidised, with tickets just $15 to allow greater accessibility to Aboriginal cultural experiences.

The tours provide an immersive introduction into Noongar culture, featuring a smoking ceremony and interactive display where visitors can touch and learn about traditional artefacts while gaining a deeper understanding of the world's oldest living culture.

Set on the banks of the Derbarl Yerrigan (Swan River), a very significant place for Noongar people, the tours explore the importance of the Noongar six seasons and the rich Dreaming stories that share ancient knowledge of Country.

The afternoon experience invites participants to explore, learn and connect with Aboriginal culture while enjoying a relaxed walk along the water's edge at Elizabeth Quay.

What to bring 
Please bring a hat, water bottle, sunscreen and an umbrella if needed.

Accessibility
This wheelchair-accessible tour is an easy 200m walk with no stairs. Seating is available along the way and the tour runs for approximately two hours.

Meeting location
Please meet at the lawn area near the Elizabeth Quay Carousel. 

Smoking ceremony
The tour includes a traditional smoking ceremony, a cultural practice to welcome participants to Country.
