Where is the Health and Wellbeing Campus site located?
The Health and Wellbeing Campus site is located in Broome, bordered by Dickinson Drive to the North, Dora Street to the East, Clementson Street to the South, and Pembroke Road to the West.
What is happening at the HWC site?
Subdivision works are on track to recommence in January 2025. This will include:
- Clearing and levelling vegetation
- Building roads and footpaths
- Stormwater management and drainage
- Landscaping
- Installation of signage, street lighting and fencing
- Laying pipes for water, sewer and electricity, and
- Environmental management.
Local residents will be notified of subdivision works in advance, either by letter drop or email.

Who is DevelopmentWA and what is our role?
With decades of experience in complex infrastructure delivery across Western Australia, DevelopmentWA is supporting Nyamba Buru Yawuru’s vision by delivering essential siteworks – including land remediation, construction of roads, and installation of drainage and utility services – to prepare the site for future construction.
This project will build on our portfolio of successful remediation projects such as Subi East and OneOneFive Hamilton Hill.
Who is Nyamba Buru Yawuru (NBY)?
As the native title holders of Rubibi (Broome), Nyamba Buru Yawuru brings deep cultural knowledge and a long-term vision to care for Country and community. The Campus reflects Yawuru values of mabu liyan (good spirit), mabu buru (healthy Country), and mabu ngarrungunil (strong community), and aims to create a place where healing happens in culturally meaningful ways.

What is the Broome Yinajalan Ngarrungunil Health and Wellbeing Campus?
Yinajalan Ngarrungunil Health and Wellbeing Campus (HWC) is an Australia-first initiative delivered through a strong partnership between Nyamba Buru Yawuru and DevelopmentWA, to provide important, holistic physical and psychological services to people in the West Kimberley region.
The finished campus will combine existing facilities with proposed facilities, and additional sites with long-term lease arrangements for complementary care providers.
