Offers are now invited from developers for two prime lots in 1909 Subi East, the former Princess Margaret Hospital site.

The next phase in DevelopmentWA's Subi East project is anticipated to see strong interest, with sites sitting just two kilometres from Perth CBD and within walking distance to West Leederville and Subiaco.

Lot 1 on Roberts Road allows for a development of up to 17 storeys across two towers with ground level mixed use offerings, while Lot 2 on Hamilton Street will be up to 11 storeys.

The two lots have a potential yield of around 300 dwellings, and once complete, the precinct will provide an estimated 1,000 dwellings across six lots.

This highly sought-after location offers access to two leading high schools, a variety of transport links including West Leederville Station and bus routes along Roberts Road, Hay Street, and Thomas Street, and is surrounded by significant public open space, including the rejuvenated Subiaco Oval precinct and adjoining green spaces and play areas.

1909 Subi East is located on the former Princess Margaret Hospital (PMH) site and has strong ties to its past with the Old Outpatient Building, Boiler House, and Godfrey House being retained.

Materials from the demolition will be reused in the public realm, and installation of a new Memorial Garden will provide a quiet place for reflection.

1909 Subi East is being transformed into a connected residential community and once complete, it will comprise of six high density apartment sites complemented by green spaces, public amenities, and rich cultural heritage.

Public activation of the site will commence next month as the Thomas Street underpass re-opens, reinstating direct pedestrian access through to West Perth. The underpass has been transformed with a mural created by Bob Hawke College students following a mentoring program lead by a local artist.

The Subi East Bidi Trail continues to make its way from Subiaco Oval to 1909, with two new sculptures installed in the precinct. Visitors can also enjoy several water features, a new playground, and an abundance of new artworks, landscaped areas and accessible walkways.

Subi East covers 35 hectares of land incorporating the area surrounding Subiaco Oval and the former PMH site. It is one of the most significant urban redevelopment projects being undertaken in Western Australia and will bring over 2,000 new homes to the inner-city area, together with additional shopping, dining and entertainment options, and ample community amenity.
