The Australian Marine Complex (AMC) Common User Facility continues to strengthen its commitment to cultural recognition, with Aboriginal‑designed polo shirts now worn by AMC staff.

Commissioned as part of the AMC’s ongoing efforts to embed Aboriginal culture into everyday operations, the polo shirt design was created by Aboriginal Noongar artist Buffie Punch and reflects Noongar culture and connection to Country. The design forms part of a broader place‑based approach across the site, alongside initiatives such as Noongar naming across machinery, sheds and key infrastructure.

To celebrate the initiative, this short video captures the creative journey behind the artwork, featuring Buffie Punch, DevelopmentWA’s Gerrard Ansey and Andre Dines, and AMC CUF’s James Parsons. It provides insight into the meaning behind the design and its significance for the AMC Common User Facility.

More than a uniform update, the Aboriginal polo shirts represent another step in weaving Aboriginal culture into the identity of the AMC, reinforcing a shared respect for Country, culture and community.
