East Village at Knutsford
East Village at Knutsford (EVK) is a 1.5-hectare precinct that represents a key part of the Knutsford redevelopment. EVK is closely tied to the innovative Fremantle Industrial Arts Quarter consultation initiative [insert link], a citizen-led project designed to celebrate the area’s unique warehouse culture, promote sustainable development and land use, and foster a hub of creativity and innovation. This dynamic vision makes Knutsford one of Perth’s most captivating urban neighborhoods.
EVK stands as one of Fremantle’s most sustainable precincts, offering Australia’s first blockchain-enabled homes. These groundbreaking residences allow new homeowners to participate in trials of this advanced technology, enabling seamless access to 100% renewable energy.
At the heart of the EVK precinct is Montreal Commons, one of Australia’s pioneering carbon-neutral apartment buildings. This five-storey development features 39 apartments, a basement, a café/small bar, and a rooftop solar PV system, showcasing a new standard of environmentally conscious design.
The precinct’s surrounding landscape is thoughtfully designed to foster a sense of community, featuring shaded structures, picnic tables, barbeques, bike parking, and drink fountains. These amenities create a welcoming outdoor space for residents and visitors to connect, relax, and enjoy.
