Rockingham Strategic Industrial Area (SIA)
The Rockingham Strategic Industrial Area (SIA) is one of Western Australia’s strategically significant heavy industrial precincts. Situated in Perth's southern suburbs, Rockingham SIA provides access to land in the State's premier industrial area, the Western Trade Coast and forms part of the Rockingham Industry Zone.
The Rockingham SIA is strategically located to ensure industry has access to serviced, well-buffered and appropriately zoned land 25 kilometres south of the Port of Fremantle Inner Harbour and 5 kilometres south of the Fremantle Outer Harbour. The Inner Harbour handles almost all of the container trade for Western Australia.
Industries currently located in the Rockingham SIA include:
Fremantle Ports
Sami Bitumen Technologies
Puma Energy
Coogee Chemicals
BHP Nickel West
CBH
Mintech Chemical Industries
WA Kaolin
Water Corporation
The Department of Jobs, Tourism, Science and Innovation (JTSI) is the lead agency for the development of Rockingham SIA and DevelopmentWA is the estate manager of land owned by DevelopmentWA.
The process for land allocation of DevelopmentWA land in the heavy industrial core or buffer areas is set out in the Proponent Land Allocation Flowchart
Proponents interested in investing in Rockingham SIA on DevelopmentWA land will be required to submit a Proponent Project Proposal Template to JTSI and DevelopmentWA.
