METRONET East

The State Government has heavily invested in transformative infrastructure which will create vibrant places for the future with more transport, housing, leisure and employment opportunities.

METRONET East will see the revitalisation of station precincts at Bayswater, High Wycombe and Midland, maximising development opportunities arising from the station upgrades and helping to create vibrant, connected town centres.

In June 2019, the Minister for Planning announced that the Midland Redevelopment Area would be extended to encompass precincts surrounding the new Bayswater and High Wycombe train stations, creating METRONET East.

The Bayswater and High Wycombe project areas were formally established in March 2020, in consultation with the City of Bayswater and City of Kalamunda.

DevelopmentWA will develop and administer a new planning framework over METRONET East – which includes a Redevelopment Scheme, Development Policies and Design Guidelines.

In May 2021, the METRONET East Redevelopment Scheme and Development Policies were adopted, formally transferring planning authority for the Scheme Area to DevelopmentWA. Visit the Planning Documents page to view.
