Lefroy is set to become a vibrant new 14-hectare precinct in Beaconsfield, offering a blend of open green spaces, innovative residential and commercial developments, all while celebrating the unique charm and diversity that defines the Beacy community.

It’s more than just a development – it’s about creating a welcoming, inclusive neighbourhood where people can thrive in an inspiring, future-focused urban environment.

This exciting transformation integrates both Marisol at Lefroy (the former Beaconsfield Challenger TAFE site) and Kinway at Lefroy (the Davis Park precinct) and is designed to deliver up to 700 new homes, a dynamic mix of commercial opportunities, and beautifully enhanced and connected public spaces.

Lefroy is building on the strong community spirit that locals already love. From spacious single-family homes to stylish apartments, there’s a home for every lifestyle.

The development will thoughtfully integrate privately-owned homes, affordable options, and social housing to create a connected, inclusive community creating a sense of belonging that aligns with the City of Fremantle’s Heart of Beaconsfield Masterplan.

Located in the centre of Beaconsfield just 2.5km south east of the Fremantle City Centre, Lefroy is bounded by Lefroy Road to the south, South Street to the north and Fifth Avenue to the east.

Lefroy consists of approximately 14-hectares of land and is comprised of two sites:

• Kinway at Lefroy (10.2 hectares);
• Marisol at Lefroy (3.8 hectares).

We are taking an integrated approach to combine the two project sites to deliver one larger precinct, aligning to the City of Fremantle’s Heart of Beaconsfield Masterplan.

This consolidation enables more streamlined and efficient planning, allowing us to deliver cohesive built environments and public spaces that complement each other across the entire development.

By unifying the sites, we can thoughtfully balance housing types—offering an ideal mix of single-family homes, townhouses, and apartment living—while also ensuring ample options for affordable, social, and private market housing.

This approach fosters a vibrant, inclusive community where everyone can thrive.

Lefroy is expected to deliver up to 700 new homes.

Embracing sustainable, innovative built form designs and featuring a range of housing options from single residential homes townhouses and apartments, Lefroy offers something for everyone. 

Lefroy aims to deliver up to 20 per cent social housing.

In alignment with State Government policy, DevelopmentWA is committed to delivering social and affordable land and housing outcomes, including the provision for social housing in Government residential developments.

Given the current demand for social and affordable housing, providing a safe, stable and sustainable place to call home for those in need is a priority for the WA State Government.

It is expected a range of amenities such as a local shops, cafes and public open spaces will all be within easy reach.

The existing Davis Park precinct will be demolished and redeveloped in stages over a ten-year period. This will ensure much-needed regeneration can occur and up to 700 homes can be delivered across Kinway at Lefroy (the Davis Park Precinct) and Marisol at Lefroy (the former Beaconsfield TAFE site).

The Department of Housing and Works will continue to manage and engage with existing Davis Park social housing residents, including tenant relocations for future development stages.

We are working collaboratively with the Department of Housing and Works to reduce impact to social housing while the redevelopment progresses, with a shared commitment to a brighter future for Beaconsfield.

In 2022 DevelopmentWA commenced an extensive community engagement and consultation process, to help inform the Local Structure Plan for the former Beaconsfield Challenger TAFE site. The Local Structure Plan was approved by Western Australian Planning Commission in 2024.

The Department of Communities commenced consultation for the Davis Park Precinct Redevelopment in 2019, with the Local Structure Plan approved in 2021.

The Subdivision Plan for former Beaconsfield Challenger TAFE site has been advertised and is conditionally approved by the Western Australian Planning Commission (WAPC). The Subdivision Plan can be viewed on the City of Fremantle’s website.

The Davis Park Precinct Stage 1 Subdivision Plan has also been advertised and conditionally approved by WAPC. You can view the plan on the City of Fremantle’s website. 

We invited the community to provide feedback for the Davis Park public open space at the end of 2024 and will release the concept plan in the coming months.

Lefroy will be delivered in stages and is expected to take up to a decade to complete.

Land sales are anticipated to commence mid 2026.
