Master planned community - coming soon
Overall, the Western Edge site is 160ha and set to ultimately deliver a mix of 1,600 residential and some commercial dwellings.
Once completed, the Western Edge will transform South Hedland and help secure future land supply in the town. We expect this visionary project to support a new population of over 3,000 people, which is a significant step towards developing Port Hedland into a city.
Western Edge will activate underutilised land on the edge of the development-ready South Hedland Town Centre, and help provide a high level of amenity.
Master planned communities that provide a high standard of housing and open spaces to foster a cohesive community feel, are key to attracting people to the region permanently.
In December 2017, a Stage 1 Western Edge structure plan was approved by the Western Australian Planning Commission, which could provide approximately 615 lots, and yield 871 homes.
Detailed financial modelling is now being undertaken ahead of a formal decision on progression of the project.
