Reconnecting the City

Perth City Link is one of the most transformative urban redevelopment projects in Western Australia, reconnecting the CBD with Northbridge for the first time in over a century. Previously divided by the railway, this 13.5-hectare precinct has been reshaped into a vibrant mixed-use destination, featuring:

  • Modern residential and commercial spaces: The precinct is designed to foster a thriving community, with premium facilities that cater to residents, businesses, tourists and visitors alike.
  • Shops, restaurants, and entertainment: Home to a diverse range of retail outlets and eateries, visitors can enjoy boutique shopping, lively bars, and entertainment venues that create a buzzing atmosphere day and night.
  • Yagan Square: This iconic entertainment precinct serves as a vibrant cultural hub, with a wide array of public spaces, a market hall, restaurants, bars, and a dynamic program of events designed to bring the community together.
  • Seamless public transport connections: The precinct boasts exceptional connectivity, with direct access to Perth Train Station and Perth Busport. Free CAT buses operate throughout the area, making it easy to move around the city.

Works underway: more students, housing and amenity

Significant infrastructure works including scheme services, roads, public open space, and landscaping have already been delivered. Construction is nearing completion on the 23-storey Dorsett Hotel which sits opposite the Perth Arena, and work has commenced on a 19-storey student accommodation facility directly behind the recently opened ECU City Campus which will house over 1,100 students.

ECU City Campus will see 10,000 staff and students visiting the Perth CBD daily, and Perth City Link will be imperative in providing housing and amenity options.

A development application has also been submitted for 174 social and affordable apartments on Roe Street within the Perth City Link precinct. With a mix of one and two bedroom apartments across 29 stories, the development will support an inclusive and sustainable lifestyle.

On completion, Perth City Link will create approximately 1,650 new apartments catering for a residential population of approximately 3,000 people and create 244,000sqm of office and retail space providing opportunities for 13,500 workers.
