Civic and Cultural Charter
For almost a decade, Yagan Square has been a vibrant destination for celebrating culture, community
and Perth’s heritage. Each year, Yagan Square hosts a diverse and inclusive program of events, delivered
in partnership with community organisations and cultural partners to create meaningful, welcoming
experiences.
Yagan Square was designed as an important civic place - one that brings Indigenous and non‑Indigenous
people together through shared space, storytelling and experience. Its program of events, activations
and everyday use reflects its role as a cultural destination that engages, connects and authentically
represents our communities.
Our Civic & Cultural Charter guides Yagan Square's role as an important community, meeting and events destination. It outlines Yagan Square's cultural importance, ensuring its use and purpose reflects and celebrates Perth's heritage, cultural diversity and creative spirit. This encompasses the precinct's management approach, event programming, commercial use and hiring activities.
Yagan Square is managed by DevelopmentWA, the State Government's central land and development agency - creating places for people to live, work, visit and do business.
